Don't Forget To Book Your MOT

MOT

As the third lockdown continues, with no confirmed end date in sight, it’s important to keep on top of key renewal dates. Unlike the spring 2020 lockdown, there are no extensions for MOTs this time around, so if yours is due in the coming months, it’s time to get it booked in.

Early last year the government announced the first lockdown and drivers were given assurance that if their MOT was due during this period, they would be given a 6 month extension - essentially making their current certificate valid for 18 months.

Be warned - you won’t be granted an extension during the current lockdown period.

What happens if my MOT has run out?

  • Your insurance automatically becomes invalid
  • If you’re caught driving without a valid MOT, you could be fined up to £1000 (the only time you’re allowed to drive your vehicle is to your MOT appointment)
  • You are not legally allowed to park on the road without a valid MOT

How do I book an MOT test?

Firstly, if you’re unsure of your MOT date, you can check this out on the government website or in your MotorEasy account. Plus, when you sign up for a MotorEasy account, you will be sent regular reminders for MOT, service and tax due dates, so you never miss an important date again.

You’re able to book your MOT up to a month in advance of your expiry date (better to book sooner than later so you don’t forget!)

Booking an MOT through MotorEasy comes with a host of benefits! We offer MOTs at a discounted rate of just £30 and, with our network of over 10,000 garages, we’re sure to find you a suitable testing centre.

We can arrange collection and delivery from your work or home and deliver it back to you once the booking is complete, giving you more time to spend on the things you love.
